Jack Kirby "Oldtimer of the Year"

Ron White

The K W Oldtimers Hockey League is proud to present the 2011 Jack Kirby "Oldtimer of the Year" award to Ron White of Kitchener. This award is given out annually for sportsmanship, extra involvement with the League, and a positive contribution to the league above and beyond the call of duty.

Ron currently plays in the B division, serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors and as you can see patrols the ice in stripes as a volunteer Referee. Born and raised in Kitchener, Ron and wife Sue have raised two sons Jeff and Mike. Presently when duty calls they chase four grandchildren around the house. If there is any time left Ron enjoys mountain biking, downhill skiing, hockey, golf, fixing up around the house, walking the dog, camping, and travel by cruising the high seas. When growing up in KW he attended Queen Elizabeth Public School, Eastwood, Forest Heights, and WLU. Ron played school hockey (won a city championship) as well as Kitchener minor hockey and soccer. Over the years he has been a K W Oldtimers Captain, coached and umpired both house league and competitive baseball and has been a scout leader. In the past he also enjoyed his toys riding his motorcycle and snowmobile, and cruising around in his boat. Having retired after 36 years at Canada Revenue Agency, his plate is full between K W Oldtimers, hobbies and those grandkids. Thanks you Ron for exemplifying what it means to be a great K W Oldtimer. Congratulations!
